Coming soon here: a paper jointly written with my friend Mark Harvey, Professor of Sociology at the University of Essex, where he is the Director of CRESI, Centre for Research in Economic Sociology and Innovation. Our paper is entitled ‘Marx’s economy and beyond’. It is the result of nearly two years of discussion between us, and common work, on the strengths and weaknesses of Marx’s political economy – including the labour theory of value – and the general directions that need to be taken to move forward from it.
‘Marx’s economy and beyond’ is some 23,000 words long. I mean to feature a few excerpts from it on normblog, as well as providing, for those who want to read the whole thing, a link to the full PDF version. The paper will in due course be crossposted to the CRESI website. See also ‘On working together‘.
